Dr. Legato takes questions from the audience

Dr. Legato, a practicing internist in New York City, shared her concern about natural alternatives: It is important to dispel the myths about alternative and natural treatments. People are consuming a myriad of substances that are being sold over-the-counter and packaged as natural cures. Patients are not telling their doctors about these treatments, some of which can lead to dangerous side effects when taken with prescription medication.
Dr. Legato is the founder and director of the Partnership for Womens Health at Columbia University, the first collaboration between academia and the private sector dedicated to advancing the study and practical use of the differences in the normal physiology of men and women and how they experience disease.
