he Partnership for Gender-Specific Medicine at Columbia University and the journal Gender Medicine (published by Elsevier) have established the annual M. Irené Ferrer Award of $10,000 for original research in gender-specific medicine. The Partnership for Gender-Specific Medicine is committed to improving the quality of health care for all by promoting a better understanding of the physiological differences between men and women. Papers submitted for the Ferrer Award must be original research studies that explore some aspect of the impact of gender on normal human physiology or on the pathophysiology of disease. The winning investigator(s) will receive $10,000. The article will be published in the concurrent issue of the Journal. All entries will be considered as submissions to Gender Medicine and will undergo the standard peer-review process.
